At the Off-White event in Paris, Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber surprised the crowd.

Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Serena Williams, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Campbell, and Joan Smalls all walked for Off-White at their Fall-Winter 2022 show.

But it was another high-profile model moment that stole the show: Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber, a mother-daughter combo who made a rare appearance on the same runway.

The two attracted eyebrows on the first day of Paris Fashion Week, wearing a set of dressier outfits from Off-current White’s collection, which was developed in large part by the late creator Virgil Abloh.

Crawford was dressed in a dusty pink tiered tulle skirt, a cropped jacket, and a graphic, spliced shirt. Gerber (top) donned an exaggerated pouf mini-and-tee ensemble with high sandals (the heels were designed to look like candelabra).

Models walked across a big white square at the Palais Brongniart for the “Spaceship Earth” presentation, which was anchored by a giant prop chandelier. The semi-monolithic domestic finery had a “2001: A Space Odyssey” vibe to it.
The clothing, on the other hand, were less creative and more rooted in Abloh’s aesthetic characteristics created in the decade since his company’s inception. There were lots of cutaway and tiered tulle dresses and skirts, as well as spiky-eared hats and varsity jackets with Crawford’s hallmark motif: quotation-marked words. Jenner donned a glistening black minidress with the words “Little Black Dress” emblazoned on it, while two models stood on the runway waving flags that said “Question Everything.”

The presentation also saw the debut of a “couture” collection, which included more elaborate, hand-crafted items.
Off-owners, White’s LVMH and New Guards Group, are reportedly seeking to carry on Abloh’s vision while growing the brand into a multibillion-dollar enterprise. The late designer had a sharp and perceptive aesthetic sense, but he was also interested in popular culture, which helped the label gain widespread popularity thanks to a slew of celebrity acquaintances and faces.
Whoever steps into his creative footsteps will have to maintain the same blend of zeitgeisty clothing and zeitgeisty people. The brand may already be on its way, with Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Idris Elba in attendance on Monday.
